The NSW Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Grants - Round 3, managed by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment, and Water is offering funding from $150,000 to $15,000,000 for charge point operators to construct, own, and operate fast and ultra-fast charging stations in 140 designated zones throughout NSW, with a total funding pool of $54 million available.
The aim of this funding is to address range anxiety by developing a wide, visible, and accessible fast charging network across NSW by ensuring connectivity between metropolitan and regional areas, future-proofing the EV charging network beyond 2030 and maximising grid support while reducing scope 2 emissions, enabling funding to support projects that would not have occurred otherwise.
A total of 140 priority zones across the state will qualify for co-funding, comprising 125 previously unfunded zones and 15 reopened zones. An additional $15,000 in funding will be available for stations that include a pull-through bay. The capped funding per applicant is $15 million. The NSW Government has expectations of funding around 280 charging stations in 380 locations outlined in the master plan.
