SA Manufacturing Technology Adoption Program (MTAP)

SA Manufacturing Technology Adoption Program (MTAP)

  • Grant of up to $50,000 in matched funding.
  • Applications are open until 28 February 2025.

The Manufacturing Technology Adoption Program (MTAP) supports South Australian manufacturers in boosting productivity and global competitiveness. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can apply for up to $50,000 in matched funding to adopt innovative Industry 4.0 technologies, including AI, machine learning, data analytics, blockchain, AR/VR, additive manufacturing, IIoT, and optics.

Key Requirements

The program provides $500,000 in funding for 2024–25 and 2025–26, with a single funding round each year.

Applicants can seek grants of up to $50,000 (excluding GST) for eligible projects, requiring a minimum 1:1 financial co-contribution. The program covers up to 50% of eligible project expenditure, with applicants contributing at least an equal amount.

Applications will be assessed against merit criteria, including the project’s alignment with program objectives, the applicant’s capacity to deliver the project, and the need for government financial support.

The program aims to accelerate the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, as outlined in South Australia’s Advanced Manufacturing Strategy. Objectives include increasing the development of new or enhanced products, supporting entry into new markets, and improving productivity and competitiveness for SME manufacturers.

What is eligible for funding?

Eligible projects must be discrete technical initiatives involving the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance operations.

The aim is to develop new or improved products, support entry into new markets, and increase productivity and competitiveness. Relevant technologies include AI, augmented and virtual reality, additive manufacturing, robotics, machine learning, IoT, blockchain, optics, quantum technologies, and others related to Industry 4.0, decarbonisation, or circular economy processes.

Projects must be completed by 30 September 2025, with agreed outputs, timelines, milestones, and KPIs approved by the Department of State Development (DSD).
Eligible project expenditure covers direct project-related costs, including fees for third-party service providers.

Applicants are encouraged to prioritise South Australian suppliers and service providers where feasible.
