The Shire of Murray, DevelopmentWA and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) have collaborated to deliver the Enterprise Support Program which will provide $3.85M in funding to small to medium agribusinesses, enterprises, and entrepreneurs to drive innovation, diversification, export capabilities, product development, and commercialisation. The grant program is a joint initiative between the Shire of Murray and DPIRD, supporting innovation at the Peel-based Food Innovation Precinct WA. The DPIRD contributed a total of $2.5M towards the program.

Key Requirements

The Food Innovation Precinct Western Australia, owned by the Shire of Murray is a cutting-edge hub driving innovation in the state’s food and beverage sector. By fostering business growth, product development, and exports, FIPWA is transforming Western Australia’s food manufacturing industry.

The Precinct opened on 24 February 2023 with a $45 million investment from the State Government and $21.75 million to fund construction of the Precinct from the Regional Growth Fund, with the intention of assisting primary producers, food, and beverage businesses in developing, testing, and producing new and improved products. By leveraging innovative advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, this facility empowers businesses to explore and validate their product innovations at commercial batch scale.

Businesses in Western Australia that are using the services of the Precinct are invited to apply for funding through the Enterprise Support Program (ESP).

The Enterprise Support Program aims to:
  • Drive economic growth
  • Create jobs
  • Foster food innovation
  • Boost agrifood exports
There are three available funding streams within the Enterprise Support Program. These are:
  • Stream One – Business and product commercialisation, collaborative research and development
  • Stream Two – Shared precinct equipment
  • Stream Three – User incentives to access the precinct space, facilities and services

If successful, businesses will be given up to 2 years to complete their projects and use the funds.

Businesses can achieve this by utilising the Food Innovation Precinct to access cutting-edge research, the incubation space, and advanced technologies.

Eligible businesses must be a:
  • Small to medium enterprise
  • Agribusinesses OR
  • An entrepreneur

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
