WA Arts Activities in Regional Communities

Creative Projects: Grants of up to $60,000 are available for arts and cultural activities and creative developments in regional Western Australia.
Creative and Cultural Planning: Grants of up to $50,000 are available for regional local governments to develop or revise creative and cultural plans.
Activities must begin after 15 January 2027.
Applications close at 4:00pm on 1 October 2026

The WA Arts Activities in Regional Communities program supports arts and cultural projects that increase participation in, access to and creation of arts and culture across regional Western Australia. Funding is available through two categories. Creative Projects supports arts and cultural activities and creative developments, while Creative and Cultural Planning supports regional local governments to develop or revise creative and cultural plans.

The program seeks to strengthen regional creative and cultural industries, create employment and skills development opportunities for regional artists and arts workers, support community-led activities, encourage cultural tourism and contribute to social inclusion, wellbeing, cohesion and vibrancy in regional communities. Western Australian regional local governments, organisations, groups and individuals may be eligible, subject to the requirements of the relevant funding category.

Key Requirements

Increase access to and participation in arts and culture across regional Western Australia.
Provide employment opportunities, skills development or career pathways for regional Western Australian artists and arts workers.
Encourage the development of regional creative and cultural industries, including cultural tourism.
Support community-led activities and creative development.
Contribute to social inclusion, wellbeing, community cohesion and vibrancy in regional Western Australian communities.
Applicants should speak with a Project Officer before applying to discuss their proposed project.
Metropolitan Western Australian applicants must provide evidence of support from, and benefits to, the relevant regional communities.
Applicants applying on behalf of Aboriginal people must provide evidence of significant Aboriginal involvement in the project’s conception, development and delivery

Applicants based in metropolitan Western Australia must provide evidence that relevant regional communities support the project and will benefit from it.

Creative and Cultural Planning

Western Australian regional local governments

Applicants applying on behalf of Aboriginal people must demonstrate significant Aboriginal involvement in project conception, development and delivery. Indian Ocean Territories applicants are directed to a separate program for 2026.
