The Urban Greening Grants Program 2026 supports Tasmanian councils, authorities and recognised natural resource management organisations to plant climate tolerant trees in urban environments. The program aims to increase canopy cover, enhance carbon storage, and improve urban resilience to rising temperatures linked to climate change.
Grants between $5,000 and $40,000 are available for eligible projects undertaken in Tasmania, with a total program funding pool of $200,000. Funded projects must be additional to existing works, occur within defined urban zones, and be completed by 31 December 2027. While co‑contributions are optional, projects with cash or in‑kind support are welcomed.

- Climate resilience: Funded activities must improve urban environments’ capacity to adapt to climate change impacts
- Carbon sequestration: Projects must contribute to increased carbon storage through new tree planting

- Deliverability: Projects must demonstrate capacity to commence before 31 December 2026 and complete by 31 December 2027
