The Advanced Manufacturing Productivity Grant Program supports Tasmanian-based advanced manufacturing enterprises by funding productivity-enhancing activities. These include obtaining accreditations, expert advice, and developing staff and business skills, as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Advanced Manufacturing Action Plan 2028.

The program provides $450,000 in funding for the 2024/25 financial year.

Grants cover up to 50% of project costs, with applicants required to match at least 50%. Grant amounts range from $1,500 to $20,000 per project, with collaborative projects potentially eligible for a higher funding percentage.

Applications are open until 30 June 2025 or until funds are exhausted, and are assessed in the order of receipt. Applicants can apply for a second grant within the financial year, with a total annual cap of $40,000.

What is eligible for funding?

  1. Business improvement:
    • Strategy advice on new processes, lean manufacturing, supply chain efficiencies, and business sustainability (e.g., carbon and waste reduction).
    • Strategic, business governance, and succession planning.
  2. Quality assurance:
    • Costs associated with obtaining market or industry accreditation such as ISO certifications (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, etc.).
  3. Unaccredited training:
    • Training for specific products, industries, safety awareness, or courses related to identified growth opportunities.

The program prioritises projects that demonstrate clear industry benefits, with collaborative projects receiving special consideration.

What companies are eligible for funding?

  • Tasmanian-based advanced manufacturing enterprises or high-tech businesses supporting manufacturing (e.g., software or component development).
  • Businesses with an annual sales turnover between $500,000 and $55 million in at least one of the last two financial years.
  • Must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST.
  • Businesses must be primarily manufacturing in Tasmania and not be a consultant or intermediary.
