The Spaceport Establishment Support Grant assists businesses to progress the establishment of commercial space launch facilities in Western Australia. Funding supports early‑stage planning, site assessment and business case activities that enable proponents to move towards an investment‑ready spaceport project.

Key Requirements

  • Applicants must be businesses operating in the space industry
  • Projects must support the establishment or scale‑up of a spaceport in Western Australia
  • A minimum 1:1 cash co‑contribution is mandatory
  • Funding supports early‑stage planning and development, not construction or operations
  • Projects must demonstrate delivery capability and alignment with WA space industry priorities

What is eligible for funding?

Eligible activities include:

  • Site assessments required for planning and regulatory approval
  • Environmental, heritage, and risk assessments
  • Development of a detailed business case to support investment readiness

Funding cannot be used for:

  • Construction or operational expenses
  • Retrospective expenditure
  • Activities unrelated to spaceport establishment

What companies are eligible for funding?

Eligible applicants are businesses operating in the space industry that:

  • Are a legal entity with or eligible for an ABN
  • Have been registered for at least three years
  • Are solvent
  • Intend to establish a spaceport in Western Australia

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
