Screen Australia’s Narrative Content Production program supports the production of Australian scripted content across feature film, television and online platforms. The program aims to support distinctive storytelling, build screen sector capability and deliver high‑quality Australian stories to audiences domestically and internationally.
Key Requirements
- Projects must be narrative scripted content intended for release on film, television or direct‑to‑audience platforms
- Applicants must engage with Screen Australia Investment Managers prior to applying
- Funding may be provided as a grant or equity investment, depending on the amount requested
- Projects must demonstrate viable budgets and pathways to audience
- Funding decisions consider creative merit, audience strategy and delivery capability
What is eligible for funding?
Eligible projects include:
- Narrative feature films
- Television drama and children’s drama
- Direct‑to‑audience narrative content, including online releases
Funding may support:
- Production costs directly related to narrative content delivery
- Projects at different budget levels and career stages
- Australian stories with local and or international distribution pathways
Funding is not generally available for:
- Factual or documentary content under this program
- Short‑form content outside defined narrative streams
- Projects without clear audience or market pathways
What companies are eligible for funding?
Eligible applicants include Australian production companies and content creators able to demonstrate:
- Significant Australian content
- Appropriate rights and chain of title
- Financial, creative and delivery capability

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?
Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
