The SA Pig Industry Fund supports projects that improve productivity, sustainability, safety and capability across South Australia’s pig industry. Funding is directed toward initiatives that deliver practical, on‑farm and industry‑wide benefits aligned to annual priority areas set by Pork SA.

Key Requirements

  • Projects must deliver clear benefit to the South Australian pig industry
  • Proposals must address one or more annual priority areas
  • Priority is given to projects that are SA‑based, farm‑focused, and include partnerships or co‑funding
  • Funding is competitive and discretionary
  • Projects must not commence before a Funding Agreement is executed
  • Funding is paid via progress payments, with final payment subject to reporting

What is eligible for funding?

Eligible projects may include activities that:

  • Improve labour efficiency and piggery operations
  • Improve electricity, gas or water efficiency
  • Enhance biosecurity practices across farms and the supply chain
  • Improve workplace health and safety outcomes
  • Build skills and capability within the pig industry
  • Increase community awareness of the SA pig industry

Funding can generally be used for:

  • Program delivery costs directly related to the approved project
  • Industry capability, training and extension activities
  • Collaborative and partnership‑based initiatives

Funding is generally not available for:

  • Infrastructure or major capital items
  • Retrospective activities or expenditure
  • Duplication of existing research or programs
  • Major equipment purchases considered business‑as‑usual
  • Capital items as defined by the ATO, unless exceptionally approved

What companies are eligible for funding?

Eligible applicants include:

  • Non‑profit organisations and incorporated associations
  • Private enterprise businesses
  • Co‑operatives
  • Local or State Government bodies
  • Non‑departmental government agencies, including tertiary institutions
  • Regional Development Boards and NRM Boards
  • Research organisations

Applicants must hold an ABN or ACN.
Individuals are not eligible unless registered as a private business enterprise.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
