Funding per grantee
- Up to $250,000 (ex GST) per project
- Funding is provided on a 1:1 matched basis (co‑investment required)
- Additional funding:
- Up to $10,000 per year available for accessibility and inclusion costs
- EOI Applications Close: 20 July 2026
The Queensland Major Commissioning Fund supports the development and presentation of impactful, large‑scale creative works that attract large audiences and contribute to Queensland’s cultural identity. The program focuses on projects that deliver strong public outcomes and help position Queensland as a leading creative and events destination leading into Brisbane 2032.
Key Requirements
- Projects must:

- Be in an advanced stage of development
- Premiere by or in 2028
- Feature Queensland artists and creatives
- Applicants must demonstrate:
- Confirmed matched funding equal to the requested amount
- Clear delivery and presentation pathway
- Projects must align with Queensland’s Time to Shine (2025–2035) strategy
What is eligible for funding?
- Commissioning and production of new large‑scale creative works
- Presentation of works with strong audience engagement potential
- Engagement of high‑profile or collaborating artists
- Co‑investment partnerships across production and delivery
- Activities that:
- Demonstrate audience growth potential
- Deliver long‑term presentation outcomes
- Build sector capability and employment
What companies are eligible for funding?
- Be an organisation or producer (not individuals)
- Have a proven track record delivering large‑scale works
- Hold an ABN and bank account in the same name
- Have no outstanding reporting or debts with Arts Queensland
- Demonstrate project delivery capability and prior experience
Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?
Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?
By engaging an accredited government grants consultant, such as Avant Group.
Competitive grants often require significant business case development and project analysis to support the application, this may include detailed presentations supporting the project’s merit, projected sales, cost-benefit analysis and more.

- Marketing and Sales Analysis Presentation
- 3-5 year Cashflow Forecast
- 3-5 year Balance Sheet Forecast
- Cost-Benefit Analysis of Grant Funding
- End-to-end grant application including information collating, analysis and application writing
- CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) cost-benefit analysis
- Stakeholder relations and Risk Mitigation Plans
- Any other relevant forecasting that will support your application
