The Positive Ageing and Elder Abuse Awareness Grants support community and statewide initiatives that raise awareness of ageism and elder abuse across Queensland. The program aims to promote prevention and early intervention through activities that educate communities, improve awareness of support services, challenge negative stereotypes about ageing, and strengthen the wellbeing, dignity and safety of older people. Funding is available through two streams. The Local Awareness Stream supports place-based projects tailored to local communities, while the Statewide Awareness Stream supports larger capability-building initiatives that engage older Queenslanders across multiple regions.
Projects are expected to foster community partnerships, collaboration with older people and intergenerational engagement. The program particularly seeks to improve outcomes for vulnerable cohorts including First Nations peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, LGBTIQA+ communities, and people living in regional, rural and remote Queensland
Key Requirements

- Challenge age-based stereotypes: Promote positive attitudes towards ageing and reduce ageism across communities.
- Support vulnerable groups: Deliver culturally safe and inclusive initiatives that engage First Nations peoples, CALD communities, LGBTIQA+ communities, and other vulnerable older Queenslanders.
