Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation

The program seeks to provide funding for community projects in the Central Coast, Hunter, Mid North Coast, Central West, New England, and Northern Rivers areas of NSW.

Key Requirements

The eligible applicant must meet the main criteria include:

  • Does the applicant’s organisation and project align with the Charitable Foundation’s  values, strategy, and mission?
  • Is the funding request realistic and transparent? Has a detailed budget been provided?
  • What benefit does the planned project deliver to the identified target market/group and broader community?
  • Does the project seek to accommodate a real need within the community and is the project an appropriate response to that need?
  • Is the project likely to stand alone after the Charitable Foundation’s support ceases and/or deliver an enduring benefit beyond the funding period?
  • Is the project’s primary focus consistent with the identified focus areas and geographical regions of the Charitable Foundation?
  • Does the applicant have the capacity, knowledge, and resources to deliver what is proposed?
  • Is there evidence of effective project management, evaluation, and performance monitoring?

What is eligible for funding?

The eligible projects  for funding include:

Young people: Projects that provide improved life outcomes for marginalised and at-risk young people in the community.

  • Supporting youth mental health in regional communities.
  • Providing early intervention initiatives for childhood education, development, and well-being
  • Facilitating remediation, development, and mentoring for disadvantaged and disengaged youth

Social wellbeing: Projects that provide improved social wellbeing for the most disadvantaged or marginalised in the community.

  • Helping communities build resilience through social infrastructure, connectedness, and healthy lifestyle.
  • Assisting socially disadvantaged people in our community to build new skills
  • Facilitating socially marginalised and isolated groups to build social connections

Health: Projects that provide improved health outcomes for the most disadvantaged, isolated, and vulnerable in the community.

  • Focus on key health issues for regional communities.
  • Improving health awareness and resources in regional communities and disadvantaged groups
  • Using new technology to deliver improved health services to regional areas
  • Supporting good mental health in regional communities

What companies are eligible for funding?

To be eligible the applicant must:

  • An incorporated legal entity such as an incorporated association or corporation.
  • Be a not-for-profit organisation which is charitable at law.
  • Endorsed by the ATO as a Tax Concession Charity (TCC).
  • Endorsed by the ATO as a Type 1 Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).
  • Registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
