The Livestock Biosecurity Funds Grant Program supports projects that enhance animal health, biosecurity, and market access across Victoria’s livestock industries. Funding supports initiatives that prevent, monitor and control livestock diseases, strengthen traceability, improve preparedness, and deliver industry‑wide biosecurity benefits.

Key Requirements

  • Applicants must be eligible organisations, not individuals
  • Projects must align with the objectives of the Livestock Disease Control Act 1994
  • Activities must deliver industry‑wide biosecurity outcomes, not individual business benefit
  • Funding supports non‑capital, non‑recurrent projects only
  • Applications are assessed competitively and approved by the Minister for Agriculture following advisory committee recommendations

What is eligible for funding?

Eligible applicants include:

  • Private sector businesses and agencies
  • Universities and research institutions
  • Cooperatives and incorporated associations
  • Victorian Government departments and entities
  • Local government authorities

Applicants must:

  • Hold an ABN
  • Be an incorporated body or association
  • Be financially solvent
  • Conduct activities in Victoria

Funding will not support:

  • Individuals or sole traders
  • Capital expenditure or core business activities
  • Retrospective projects
  • Emergency response or compensation activities
  • Activities outside Victoria

What companies are eligible for funding?

Eligible applications must be submitted by an incorporated organisation with relevant capability to deliver projects that benefit Victoria’s cattle, sheep, goat, swine or honey bee industries.

Projects may be funded through one or more of the relevant livestock compensation funds, subject to advisory committee endorsement.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.

How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?
