The LGBTIQA+ Health Program Round 2 provides one-off competitive grants to organisations with specialist experience in LGBTIQA+ health and wellbeing. Funding will support new or expanded initiatives delivered at local, regional or national level that improve access to appropriate, culturally sound and inclusive healthcare. The program focuses on preventive health, protective factors, health literacy and the accessibility, availability and safety of healthcare services.
Projects may include clinical and non-clinical services such as psychosocial and peer support, selected allied health services, health promotion, alcohol and substance use programs, chronic disease initiatives and specified perinatal or antenatal support. Two streams are available, based on the applicant’s average annual revenue over the previous three years. Applicants must be eligible non-government, not-for-profit organisations and demonstrate appropriate experience, governance, financial controls and capacity to deliver the proposed activities.
Key Requirements
- Improve access to healthcare services. Projects should enhance the accessibility, availability and safety of healthcare for LGBTIQA+ people through inclusive, affirming and culturally appropriate service delivery.
- Strengthen preventive health and health literacy. Activities should support preventive health, protective factors, disease prevention, early intervention and improved health literacy within LGBTIQA+ communities.
- Build organisational and community capacity. Projects should strengthen the capability of organisations and communities through partnerships, knowledge sharing and sustainable service delivery.
- Address identified health and wellbeing needs. Applicants must demonstrate the health or wellbeing gap their project will address and show how research, data or evaluation has informed the project design.
- Demonstrate relevant experience. Applicants must provide evidence of experience delivering LGBTIQA+ focused health and wellbeing services and show a history of respectful, person-centred and trauma-informed practice.
- Provide a deliverable project design. Applications must include clear activities, achievable milestones, an evaluation approach and information about the project’s future after funding ends.
- Demonstrate capacity and risk management. Applicants must show that they have appropriate governance, business systems, qualified personnel, cultural capability, safeguards and risk controls.
