International Space Investment India Projects – Round 2

  • Maximum grant amount: Up to $2.69 million

  • Project timing: Projects expected to commence from May 2026 and be completed by 31 December 2027

The International Space Investment India Projects Round 2 grant supports Australian organisations to deliver joint space projects with India. The program is designed to strengthen collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation and the Indian space sector, expand Australia’s space capability and enable Australian space technologies and services to be delivered internationally.

Key Requirements

  • Applicants must be Australian incorporated entities or publicly funded research organisations
  • Projects must align with the Project Focus Area specified in the guidelines
  • A minimum of 80% of project investment must be made in Australia
  • Eligible projects must include at least $1 million in eligible expenditure
  • Grant funding may cover up to 100% of eligible project costs
  • There is no mandatory co‑contribution requirement, however applicants must fund any costs not covered by the grant
  • Projects must not commence before a grant agreement is executed
  • Applicants must demonstrate capability to manage delivery, regulatory approvals, national security and export control risks

What is eligible for funding?

Eligible projects must:

  • Directly support the defined Project Focus Area
  • Involve collaboration with Indian space organisations or supply chains
  • Build Australian space capability, technology readiness and commercial outcomes

Eligible activities may include:

  • Space‑related research and development with a pathway to commercialisation
  • Product and service development
  • Engineering, integration and commissioning of equipment or software
  • Skills and capability development directly linked to project outcomes
  • Collaboration and partnership development

Funding is not generally available for:

  • Activities already funded by another Commonwealth grant
  • Costs incurred before execution of a grant agreement
  • Financing costs, interest or debt servicing
  • General business operating expenses unrelated to the project
  • Land acquisition or unrelated infrastructure development

What companies are eligible for funding?

Eligible applicants include:

  • Australian incorporated entities with an ABN and GST registration
  • Publicly funded research organisations

The following are not eligible:

  • Individuals, partnerships or trusts (unless via an incorporated trustee)
  • Commonwealth, state, territory or local government bodies
  • Organisations that do not meet workplace gender equality compliance requirements

Joint applications are permitted, with one eligible lead organisation.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
