Cancer Council WA – Clinical Capacity Building Grant

The Cancer Council WA Clinical Capacity Building Grant supports clinicians in Western Australia to undertake collaborative cancer research projects that build clinical research capability and strengthen cross‑institutional partnerships. Funding supports applied and translational cancer research designed to advance clinical practice and patient care.

Key Requirements

  • The Chief Investigator A must be a clinician working in, or affiliated with, a WA higher education institution and or medical research institute.
  • Applications must involve two or more institutions acting in collaboration, with one nominated as the administering institution.
  • Projects must be clinical research focused and translational. Pre‑clinical applications are not eligible.

 

What is eligible for funding?

Eligible projects include:

  • Cancer research aligned to causes, diagnosis, treatment and or prevention, delivered as clinical capacity building research.
  • Applied research with a clear pathway to improving clinical practice and or patient care.

Funding will not support:

  • Pre‑clinical research applications under this scheme.
  • Projects with budgets exceeding $114,000 (ex GST).
  • Applications involving prohibited tobacco or other cancer‑risk industry funding conflicts.

What companies are eligible for funding?

Eligible applications must be led by a WA‑based clinician and administered through an eligible WA administering institution (including NHMRC approved administering institutions, WA universities, WA medical research institutes, WA public health service providers, or the public side of eligible public private partnership providers).

Applicants must meet residency and employment requirements in WA and have no overdue reports for relevant Department of Health WA or Cancer Council WA grant programs.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
