WA Bird Flu Wildlife Resilience Grants

The program offers two funding streams:

Small Grants: $1,500 to $10,000.
Large Grants: up to $200,000.

Closing dates have not yet been announced.

The Bird Flu Wildlife Resilience Grants program has been established to support community-based projects that directly address the prevention and management of H5 bird flu in wildlife populations across Western Australia. The initiative is intended to strengthen wildlife preparedness, improve biosecurity capabilities and support activities that increase the long-term resilience of native species and ecosystems.

The program provides both immediate support for licensed wildlife rehabilitators and larger-scale funding for organisations capable of delivering strategic wildlife management initiatives. Projects that reduce risks to wildlife populations, improve disease preparedness or strengthen native species resilience will be prioritised.

Key Requirements

Small grants are specifically available to licensed wildlife rehabilitators and are intended to support practical measures that improve preparedness and response capability. Eligible expenditure may include biosecurity improvements, training and operational consumables.

Large grant applicants must be eligible organisations with a demonstrated history of delivering wildlife management activities. Funding is intended for strategic projects that contribute to preventing, managing or reducing the impact of H5 bird flu in wildlife populations.

Projects should demonstrate clear benefits for wildlife health, conservation outcomes or ecosystem resilience and directly contribute to managing risks associated with bird flu.

Enhancing biosecurity measures.
Purchasing consumables and operational supplies.
Completing relevant training and capability-building activities.

Large grants may support:

Strategic wildlife management initiatives.
Long-term wildlife resilience projects.
Native species protection activities.
Programs that mitigate the impacts of feral animals.
Other initiatives that directly support prevention and management of H5 bird flu in wildlife.

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
