Arts 15k-Plus Grant Program – Sector Development

  • Applications Open:  until 1 June 2023
  • Grants: between $15,000 – $60,000

The program seeks to support the growth and development of a vibrant sector that promotes the participation and active engagement of Western Australian communities in high-quality arts and cultural experiences.

Key Requirements

  • The eligible applicant must meet the main assessment criteria include:
    • Reach (25%)
    • Quality (35%)
    • Financial responsibility (20%)
    • Good planning (20%)
  • The eligible applicant is not expected to address all dimensions and definitions, only those most relevant to your application.
  • The eligible applicant must meet at least one of the category objectives to be successful.

What is eligible for funding?

The eligible activities available for funding may include, but are not limited to:

  • International and national engagements, including scoping and development
  • Programs that support the delivery of high-quality arts to Western Australia and the rest of the world.
  • Collaborations between organisations in the art, creative and cultural sector
  • Increasing Western Australian employment and attracting tourists
  • Sector specific research projects

The eligible disciplines include:

  • Comedy
  • Visual arts.
  • Circus and physical theatre
  • Cross-art form
  • Community Arts and cultural development
  • Dance
  • Music
  • Other performing arts
  • Interactive arts content
  • Literature and writing (limited to literary fiction, literary non-fiction, poetry, illustrated narrative)
  • Design
  • Multi-arts festivals
  • Music theatre and opera
  • Theatre

What companies are eligible for funding?

The eligible applicants include individuals, organisations and groups that must meet the following:

  • Individuals must have Australian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • Groups including unincorporated bodies, partnerships and individuals informally collaborating on an activity must be based in Australia
  • If you are considering submitting an administered/auspiced grant you must contact the department before commencing your application
  • Organisations must either be registered under law (e.g. incorporated association, company limited by guarantee) or created by law (e.g. university, school or government statutory authority)
  • WA educational institutions (kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities) cannot apply for curriculum-based arts activity. If you are in any doubt, contact us to discuss your activity
  • If you are applying on behalf of Aboriginal people you must provide evidence of significant Aboriginal involvement in the conception, development of and participation in the activity
  • Although WA residency is not a requirement to apply for a grant, if you are applying from outside WA you will need to show the benefits to WA artists, creatives, arts or cultural workers in your application.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
