The Stronger Together Project Grants 2027 support grassroots multicultural projects that address community needs and promote community harmony across New South Wales. Registered non-profit organisations may apply for grants of between $20,000 and $50,000 to deliver projects in NSW during 2027. Projects must demonstrate alignment with the program aim, clear community need, measurable outcomes, value for money and the applicant’s capacity to deliver within the available timeframe and budget.

Applicants must provide an accurate, balanced and itemised budget, identify project resources and show financial or in-kind co-contributions from other sources. Projects should be supported by a practical work plan and risk mitigation strategy. Funding will support a diverse range of community organisations, activities, approaches, cultural focuses and locations across NSW. Applications are assessed competitively against other applications, including projects with similar locations, cultural focuses and proposed activities.

Key Requirements

  • Meet a grassroots community need: Projects must respond to an identified need within multicultural communities in NSW and demonstrate how the proposed activities will support community harmony.
  • Deliver the project in NSW: All funded project activities must be delivered within New South Wales between 1 January 2027 and 31 December 2027.
  • Demonstrate measurable outcomes: Applicants must explain the outcomes the project intends to achieve and how those outcomes will be measured
  • Show organisational capacity: Applicants must demonstrate that they have the resources, experience and capacity to deliver the proposed project within the available delivery period and approved budget.
  • Provide a work plan and risk strategy: Applications should include a work plan setting out project delivery and a risk mitigation strategy addressing relevant delivery risks.
  • Demonstrate value for money: The application must include a proportionate, clearly itemised and accurate budget. Project income and expenditure must balance.
  • Identify co-contributions: Applicants must identify financial or in-kind contributions from other sources. A prescribed contribution percentage is not specified, but applications without a co-contribution are unlikely to receive funding.
  • Disclose previous and current funding: Applicants must confirm funding received during the previous three years and identify other funding sources contributing to the project budget.
  • Meet compliance requirements: Applicants must have appropriate licences and insurance arrangements and must have completed the required acquittals for any previous funding received from the funding body.
  • Promote the funded project: Successful applicants must acknowledge and promote the funded project through their website and social media platforms

What is eligible for funding?

  • Grassroots multicultural projects that meet an identified community need

What companies are eligible for funding?

Eligible organisations must:

  • Deliver the proposed project in NSW
  • Confirm past and current funding sources for the previous three years
  • Have completed all required acquittals for prior funding
  • Explain how project outcomes will be measured
  • Demonstrate that the project is cost effective and viable
  • Provide an accurate and balanced budget
  • Hold appropriate insurance and licences
  • Deliver the project within the required funding period
  • Promote the funded project through their website and social media
  • Identify financial or in-kind co-contributions
  • Confirm all other funding contributing to the project budget
  • Demonstrate sound financial management and governance
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the NSW Multicultural Principles
  • Businesses and for-profit companies are not eligible to apply.

Eligible organisations may submit more than one application for different projects. However, an organisation can receive only one grant in the same funding round.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
