Notional allocations include:

$4.9 million for projects requesting between $100,001 and $750,000
$1 million for projects requesting between $5,000 and $100,000

The Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program supports the development, upgrade and renewal of recreation and sporting infrastructure across South Australia. The program aims to provide high-quality, accessible and sustainable facilities that encourage greater participation in sport and active recreation while meeting current and future community needs.

The program funds facility projects that improve participation opportunities, strengthen community sport and recreation organisations and support long-term infrastructure planning. Projects are expected to deliver broad community benefits and align with relevant sport, recreation and local government priorities.

Key Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate that their project addresses an identified sport or recreation need, will improve participation opportunities and provides clear community benefit. Preference is given to projects that increase facility accessibility, improve sustainability and support multi-use outcomes.

All projects require an applicant co-contribution. Most projects must provide at least 50% of total project costs, although some trail developments and facilities located in eligible disadvantaged areas may qualify for a reduced 25% co-contribution requirement.

Projects must be located in South Australia, demonstrate project readiness and have relevant landowner approvals and support in place before funding can be awarded. Applicants are also expected to consider Universal Design principles, environmentally sustainable design practices and relevant facility standards during project planning.

Parent and child change facilities.
Officials’ facilities.
Floodlighting and safety lighting upgrades.

Aquatic Infrastructure

Aquatic facility upgrades and improvements.

Trails

Walking trails.
Cycling trails.
Horse riding trails.
Water-based recreation trails.

Sustainability Projects

Water harvesting initiatives.
Irrigation upgrades.
Water connections.
Energy-efficient lighting.
Solar energy projects.
Smart technology installations.

Local councils.
School councils.
Boards of management.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.

How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?
