Queensland Arts Project Fund – Round 3

The Queensland Arts Project Fund offers three funding streams:

General Stream: up to $70,000
Individuals Stream: up to $20,000
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Stream: up to $70,000

Applicants may also seek an additional $10,000 in accessibility funding to support participation and engagement for d/Deaf artists, audiences and people with disability.

The Queensland Arts Project Fund provides one-off funding to support Queensland artists, creatives and arts organisations to develop, produce and present new creative work. The program aims to strengthen Queensland's creative sector by supporting projects that reflect local stories, communities and places while creating career opportunities for artists and arts workers.

The fund supports the delivery of Queensland's Time to Shine: 10-year arts and cultural strategy and includes a dedicated funding stream for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led projects. Applications submitted through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Stream that are considered worthy of support but cannot be funded through that allocation may also be considered under the General Stream, providing applicants with an additional opportunity for funding consideration.

A key focus of the fund is improving accessibility and inclusion across Queensland's arts sector. Additional accessibility funding is available to help remove barriers for artists, audiences and participants with disability or who are d/Deaf.

Key Requirements

Projects must support the creation, development, production or presentation of new creative work and align with the Fund’s objectives of supporting Queensland artists, sharing Queensland stories and increasing access to arts and cultural experiences.

Applicants must be Queensland-based and apply through the appropriate funding stream. Individuals may apply through either the Individuals Stream or General Stream, while Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants may apply through the dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Stream.

Projects must demonstrate artistic merit, strong planning, a viable budget and clear benefits for Queensland artists, creative workers, audiences and communities. Applications should also demonstrate appropriate consultation and cultural competency where projects involve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse communities or other specific groups.

Where accessibility funding is requested, applicants must clearly demonstrate how the additional funding will improve participation and access for artists, workers, participants or audiences who are d/Deaf or have disability.

What is eligible for funding?

The program funds the creation, development and presentation of new creative work across a broad range of artforms including visual arts, craft and design, performing arts, classical and contemporary music, writing and multi-arts practice.

Funding may support:

Creative development of new artistic works.
Significant reinterpretations of existing works.
Production, presentation, exhibition and distribution activities.
New exhibitions of existing work.
Collaborations with nationally or internationally recognised artists or organisations.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander fashion and textile projects.
Accessibility initiatives that improve participation and audience engagement.

What companies are eligible for funding?

The program is open to Queensland-based individuals, arts companies, organisations and groups. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, groups and organisations may apply through the dedicated First Nations stream. For the purposes of the fund, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations must be at least 50% owned and led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have formal authority over governance and operations. Individuals are able to apply through either the Individuals Stream or the General Stream, depending on the scope and scale of the proposed project.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.

How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?
