Funding supports institutional research equipment procurement and maintenance
Equipment purchased during the 2025–26 financial year may be attributed to Equipment Grant funding.

The NHMRC Equipment Grants scheme supports Australian health and medical research institutions to strategically acquire, maintain and share larger items of research equipment. The program aims to strengthen access to high-quality research infrastructure, support collaborative use of equipment and improve the long-term sustainability of health and medical research capability across Australia.

Key Requirements

Funding is available only to NHMRC-approved Administering Institutions.

Equipment should support high-quality health and medical research.

Equipment should be used collaboratively across research groups, departments or disciplines.

Institutions should prioritise Australian-made equipment where possible.

Institutions must demonstrate an ability to maintain, repair and service purchased equipment.

What is eligible for funding?

Purchase of major research equipment supporting health and medical research.

Shared multi-user research equipment.

Equipment used across multiple disciplines, departments and research groups.

Ongoing service, maintenance, upgrades and repairs for equipment supporting NHMRC-funded research.

Equipment that expands institutional capability and supports collaborative research infrastructure.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.

How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?

By engaging an accredited government grants consultant, such as Avant Group.
