Round 1 is delivered through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process and applications close on 8 May 2026.
To be eligible, schools must have adequate space and electrical capacity for upgrades and equipment, and either an operational canteen or evidence they are well progressed in establishing one. Funding is offered from 2026 to 2028 to help schools strengthen ongoing provision and promotion of nutritious options, supporting student wellbeing and learning.

- Principal-led submission and consultation: The EOI must be submitted by the school principal in consultation with the canteen operator.
