The RACQ Resilient Energy Centre Program supports Queensland communities to strengthen energy resilience during natural disasters and power outages. The program funds the installation of solar, battery storage, energy management systems and communications backup infrastructure at community facilities, enabling them to operate as energy hubs during outages. Funding of up to $50,000 per project is available, along with mentoring and technical guidance throughout planning and implementation.
Eligible projects must be accessible to the public during outages and located in Queensland communities with demonstrated vulnerability to power disruptions. The program prioritises sites that support disaster response, evacuation, recovery, or serve under‑represented and vulnerable population groups.
Key Requirements
- Improve community energy resilience: Projects must provide reliable power and communications during grid or telecommunications outages
- Public accessibility: Facilities must be accessible to the public during power outages
- Disaster‑ready infrastructure: Sites must be structurally sound and capable of withstanding extreme weather events
- Timely delivery: Projects must be fully installed, operational and acquitted within 12 months of funding approval
- Community impact: Preference is given to projects supporting highly disaster‑vulnerable communities and under‑served cohorts
- Compliance and quality: All systems must comply with RACQ‑approved designs, safety standards and performance requirements
