Australian Research Council Discovery Program Grant: Australian Laureate Fellowships
- Australian Laureate Fellowship salary, as specified on the Salaries and Stipends page of the ARC website
- Additional project funding to support research activities, including salary related on-costs where applicable
- Funding duration of up to five consecutive years
- Kathrin Fitzpatrick Australian Laureate Fellowship or Georgina Sweet Australian Laureate Fellowship includes additional funding of up to $20,000 per year for up to five years
The Australian Laureate Fellowships support leading researchers to undertake innovative and ground breaking research with significant national benefit. The program aims to build Australia’s research capacity by supporting researchers with exceptional leadership capability and a strong mentoring role. Funding supports both the researcher’s salary and eligible research activities.
Key Requirements
- Research activities must meet the definition of research under the program guidelines
- Projects must generate new knowledge or use existing knowledge in innovative ways
- Fellows must demonstrate a significant leadership and mentoring role within the research community
- Research outcomes must deliver significant economic, commercial, environmental, social or cultural benefit for Australia

- Research projects that meet the ARC definition of research
- Innovative research activities including theoretical, experimental or analytical work
- Activities directly related to the proposed research project
What companies are eligible for funding?
Applications must be submitted by eligible organisations listed in Appendix B of the guidelines. The program is designed for outstanding researchers with an established international reputation and a demonstrated capacity to provide leadership and mentoring within the Australian research system.
Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?
Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
