Low Emissions Industry Program (NSW)

The Low Emissions Industry Program provides co‑funding to help NSW manufacturing and mining facilities implement large‑scale projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The program supports proven, commercially mature technologies that can be deployed quickly to future‑proof industrial operations and support NSW’s transition to net zero.

Key Requirements

  • Projects must reduce facility emissions by at least 1,000 tCO₂‑e per year (Scope 1 and or Scope 2)
  • Projects must be fully operational by 30 June 2030
  • The applicant must provide at least 50% co‑funding of eligible costs
  • Projects must deliver emissions reduction without reducing production levels or safety

 

What is eligible for funding?

Eligible applicants must:

  • Operate a manufacturing or mining facility in NSW
  • Have reported emissions under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Scheme for the 2024–25 financial year
  • Not be a Safeguard Facility or an oil and gas extraction facility

Eligible projects may include:

  • Fuel switching
  • Industrial kiln or boiler upgrades
  • Waste heat recovery
  • Heat pump installations
  • Facility retrofits and process improvements

What companies are eligible for funding?

Eligible applicants are NSW‑based manufacturing and mining facilities that have demonstrated emissions intensity under the NGER Scheme and are ready to deploy commercially proven decarbonisation technologies at scale.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.

How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?

  • Any other relevant forecasting that will support your application
