The Exceptional Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants provide financial support to primary producers who sustained direct physical damage from the disaster commencing 24 December 2025. The grants help pay for clean‑up and reinstatement costs so affected enterprises can safely and promptly resume operations. A $7M Coordinated Emergency Fodder Support package for eligible primary producers have also been announced.
These grants are part of a $38M disaster recovery pool, recently announced by the Queensland and Federal Governments. Additional grant programs are expected to be announced soon.
Key Requirements
EXCEPTIONAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE RECOVERY GRANTS:
- Purpose: Support clean‑up and reinstatement of primary production enterprises directly damaged by the North Queensland Monsoon Trough and Flooding.
- Evidence & insurance: Provide photos (5–10), invoices/quotes, and insurance details. Assistance cannot cover items paid by insurance; items not covered or excesses may be eligible.
- Assessment: Complete applications are assessed in order of receipt; multiple claims permitted up to the cap before the closing day
COORDINATED EMERGENCY FOODER SUPPORT PACAKAGE – 2025-26 NORTH QUEENSLAND MONSOON TROUGH AND FLOODING

What is eligible for funding?
EXCEPTIONAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE RECOVERY GRANTS:
Eligible costs include:
- hiring/leasing or purchasing clean‑up equipment and materials
- tradesperson safety inspections
- debris removal
- essential repairs to non‑residential buildings and fittings
- repairing/reconditioning plant and equipment
- fencing where not covered by other assistance; purchasing fodder (subject to other assistance limits)
- maintaining livestock health
- replacing dead livestock
- repairing/restoring fields
- salvaging crops, grain and feed
- replacing lost/damaged plants (root stock, seedlings, seeds, tube stock)
- replacing eligible crops with the same or comparable crop (subject to cost limits)
- replacing essential firefighting water and carting water

- Costs of undertaking emergency livestock fodder distribution to ensure humane treatment and welfare of stranded livestock.
What companies are eligible for funding?
EXCEPTIONAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE RECOVERY GRANTS:
- Eligible entities: Primary producers (sole traders, partnerships, companies, trusts) in the agricultural, apicultural, aquacultural, commercial wild‑catch fishing, forestry, grazing and horticultural industries.
- Support services included: Certain support services to primary production (e.g., shearing, mustering, farm irrigation services) are considered primary production income under DRFA for eligibility.
- Additional considerations: Must hold an ABN at the time of the disaster; located in a defined disaster area; direct physical damage required; loss of income is ineligible; cannot claim costs covered by insurance. Separate businesses under one ABN may apply individually if commercially viable and autonomous.
