Private Sector Pathways Program supports Queensland-based small-to-medium enterprises and scaleups to collaborate with corporate partners to develop commercial opportunities by solving real business challenges.

Corporate challenge owners set a challenge and invite solutions from Queensland businesses. Successful applicants can receive co-funding of up to $200,000 from Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation and the corporate partner to develop and pilot solutions over 6 to 12 months.

Key Requirements

  • Increase partnerships between Queensland SMEs and corporate businesses or large organisations to solve problems and build commercial opportunities in Queensland.
  • Propose a solution to a defined corporate challenge, with activities, milestones, timeframes, and costs that represent fair market value and can be negotiated prior to contracting.
  • Be ready to enter into a program agreement with Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation and the corporate partner, including milestone-based deliverables and reporting.
  • Provide a product that is at, or beyond, minimum viable product stage and is being developed in Queensland.
  • Provide regular progress updates and complete mid-point and final reports covering progress and outcomes.

What is eligible for funding?

  • Develop and pilot a solution that addresses the corporate challenge outcomes and requirements.
  • Trial the solution with the corporate partner for 6 to 12 months, aligned to agreed milestones and deliverables
  • Deliver milestone-based outputs and participate in project negotiations on activities, timeframes, and funding amounts prior to contract execution.
  • Provide progress updates and complete mid-point and final reporting on project progress and outcomes.

What companies are eligible for funding?

  • Queensland-based startups or small to medium enterprises with an ABN registered in Queensland and project delivery within Queensland.
  • Established Queensland-based startups or SMEs with full-time equivalent employee count below 200.
  • Businesses registered for GST at time of contract execution
  • Applicants that have not had previous commercial contracts with the participating corporate challenge owner for the relevant challenge.
  • Joint applications are permitted where a primary entity submits the application and is responsible for partner compliance with program terms

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
