Small Business Growth Strategy Grant Program
- Applications Open: This program is open on an ongoing basis until 2 pm AEDT on 4 April 2023.
- Grants: between $10,000-$50,000
The program seeks to provide grants to small businesses for the delivery of projects that align with Tasmanian Government's Small Business Growth Strategy 2026.
Key Requirements
To acquit a grant the applicant must meet the main criteria include:
- Project Plan
- Applicant’s capability to deliver the project
- Project Budget
What is eligible for funding?
The eligible projects must:
- Relate to 1 of the Small Business Growth Strategy themes:
- Technology
- Place
- People and connections
- Enabling business
- Technology
- Align with 1 of the following streams:
- Stream 1: Research and feasibility studies
- Stream 2: Workplace capability
- Stream 3: Scaling up/business growth
What companies are eligible for funding?
To be eligible the applicants must be registered for tax purposes with an active ABN from 1 July 2021 and:
1.)For organisations
- Be an organisation that provides membership support, advocacy, information, representation, and other support functions for its business members.
- Have a membership base comprising at least 60% small business members.
- Be primarily located in Tasmania with a 90% Tasmanian-based membership.
2.)For business
- Have reported the annual sales turnover in the 2021-22 financial year of at least $50,000.
Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?
Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?

- 3-5 year Balance Sheet Forecast
- Cost-Benefit Analysis of Grant Funding
- End-to-end grant application including information collating, analysis and application writing
- CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) cost-benefit analysis
- Stakeholder relations and Risk Mitigation Plans
- Any other relevant forecasting that will support your application
