Wine Tourism and Cellar Door Grant Round 8
- Applications for Round 8 are open and will close October 23rd, 2026.
- Round 9 (for WET paid in 2026β27) applications are expected to open in mid-2027.
- Applicants may receive up to $100,000 (GST exclusive) per application, based on 29% of the notional wholesale selling price of eligible rebateable domestic cellar door sales.
The Wine Tourism and Cellar Door Grant supports Australian wine and cider producers who contribute to regional tourism by operating physical cellar doors and attracting visitors to wine regions. The program forms part of broader industry support measures and provides annual grant funding based on eligible cellar door sales made during the previous financial year. Eligible producers may receive funding of up to $100,000, calculated as a percentage of qualifying cellar door sales, subject to the annual program funding cap.
The grant is designed to encourage wine tourism activity, support investment in physical cellar door operations, and recognise producers who create tourism experiences that generate economic benefits within regional communities. Funding is provided as a single payment and does not require reporting or acquittal following payment.
Key Requirements
- Support wine tourism in regional Australia The program aims to support wine and cider producers that add value to regional tourism by encouraging visitors to wine regions through physical cellar door experiences.
- Operate an eligible physical cellar door Applicants must own or lease a physical cellar door in Australia and hold a valid liquor licence during the relevant financial year.
- Meet minimum sales thresholds Applicants must have made at least $1,207,000 GST exclusive in rebatable wine sales during the relevant financial year and have eligible domestic cellar door sales above this threshold.
- Pay Wine Equalisation Tax on eligible sales WET must have been paid on all sales included in the grant application.
- Provide supporting evidence Applicants must provide evidence of cellar door ownership or lease arrangements, liquor licensing and a completed statutory declaration
What is eligible for funding?
Funding supports:
- Eligible rebatable domestic cellar door sales made through a physical cellar door.
- In-person sales completed at a physical cellar door premises.
- Sales where purchase occurs at the physical cellar door and product is subsequently shipped to the customer.
- Eligible cellar door sales undertaken during periods when the applicant or related entity owned or leased the physical cellar door.
- Sales that comprise at least 50% physical cellar door transactions within the application.
What companies are eligible for funding Wine Cellar Door Grant?
Eligible applicants must:
- Be a wine producer.
- Be a cider producer.
- Be a legal entity with an active ABN.
- Be registered for GST.
- Have made at least $1,207,000 GST exclusive in rebatable wine sales during the relevant financial year.
- Have paid WET on all eligible sales included in the application.
- Own or lease a physical cellar door in Australia, directly or through a related entity.
- Hold a valid liquor licence during the relevant financial year
Is this grant competitive or entitlement-based?
Entitlement. Wine producers who meet the eligibility criteria in the preceding financial year will be eligible.
