The HCF Research Foundation Health Services Research Grants support research that improves the quality, efficiency, equity and access of Australian health services. Funding prioritises projects with strong translation potential, system‑level relevance and the ability to deliver scalable improvements in healthcare delivery.

Key Requirements

  • Projects must be genuine health services research.
  • Research must directly address one or more of the 2026 priority topics set by the HCF Research Foundation.
  • Applications are submitted through a single nominated Administering Institution.
  • Consumer and community engagement must be clearly addressed across the research lifecycle.
  • Projects should demonstrate strong potential for translation, scalability and measurable impact.

What is eligible for funding?

Eligible projects must directly address at least one of the following priority areas:
  • Uptake, accessibility and effectiveness of innovative mental health models of care, including community‑based models and integrated pathways supporting people with acute mental health needs.
  • Identification and remediation of gender bias in healthcare services, including systemic and institutional barriers affecting diagnosis and treatment.
Eligible activities include pilot studies, implementation research, evaluations of models of care, meta‑reviews and translational studies that improve health service delivery outcomes.

What companies are eligible for funding?

  • Universities, hospitals, research institutes and other reputable organisations capable of administering research funding.
  • Each application must nominate a single Administering Institution.
  • A single lead investigator per application is required; one EOI per lead investigator is permitted.

Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?

Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.

How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?
