The AgriFutures Chicken Meat Program invests in research that addresses priority challenges and opportunities facing the Australian chicken meat industry. The program supports industry‑led research that builds productivity, sustainability, resilience and long‑term profitability, aligned to the AgriFutures Chicken Meat RD&E Plan 2022–2027.
Projects are expected to deliver practical, applied outcomes that support industry uptake, inform best practice and strengthen the competitiveness of the Australian chicken meat supply chain.
Key Requirements
- Projects must align with one or more priority areas within the AgriFutures Chicken Meat RD&E Plan 2022–2027.
- Applications must demonstrate clear industry relevance, applied outcomes and adoption pathways.
- Applications are submitted through AgriFutures Australia’s K2 online platform.
- Collaboration with other research providers and industry stakeholders is encouraged.
- Applicants must comply with AgriFutures Australia’s research governance, probity and contracting requirements.
What is eligible for funding?
- Improving environmental sustainability outcomes, including water use efficiency, climate adaptation, energy security and manure or litter management.
- Enhancing chicken biosecurity, health and welfare, including disease prevention, monitoring, husbandry practices and welfare‑focused technologies.
- Ensuring the food safety of Australian chicken meat, including pathogen control, whole‑of‑chain risk management and consumer food safety practices.

- Individuals with appropriate research credentials
Is this grant competitive or entitlement based?
Competitive. Your application will be assessed among other applications by a judging panel.
How can I increase my chances of winning this grant?

- CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) cost-benefit analysis
- Stakeholder relations and Risk Mitigation Plans
- Any other relevant forecasting that will support your application
