The Export Market Development Grant program offers several tiers of support to help Australian businesses grow their presence in international markets.
Tier 1 is for new exporters and provides between twenty thousand and thirty thousand dollars per year to help build export readiness and capability. This may include training or market testing designed to prepare a business for international activity.
Tier 2 supports businesses that are already exporting and looking to expand in their current markets, with funding ranging from twenty thousand to fifty thousand dollars per year.
Tier 3 is aimed at businesses seeking to enter new key international markets. This tier provides between twenty thousand and eighty thousand dollars per year and is best suited to businesses that have established export capability and now aim to scale into new regions.
Representative bodies, such as industry associations, may also apply for up to fifty thousand dollars per year to promote the products or services of their members overseas.
Grant agreements can run for up to two financial years and businesses can participate in the program for a total of eight years, even if those years are not consecutive. This structure allows businesses to access support across various stages of their export journey.
This information is provided in line with the last round of the EMDG program and future rounds could see major changes to the program structure and funding size.
